PHACO/IOCl
Phaco is performed by inserting an ultrasound probe into the eye to soften and emulsify the hardened lens, so that it can be removed by aspiration through a titanium needle. Incisions have become smaller with the advent of fold able IOL's (Intra ocular lenses) and may be as small as 2.8mm. Smaller incision Techniques used in Phacoemulsification offer better postoperative benefits, including quick wound healing with less inflammation, as well as a lower
incidence of astigmatism. In this manner Phacoemulsification allows the surgeon more control over the Intra ocular environment and the patient less physical
trauma.
